This Spring/Summer is all about using beautiful, bright colours. We all want to forget the gloom of winter and the credit crunch at the moment, so it’s time to lighten your mood and brighten up your make-up bag.
The inspiration on the catwalk was full of floral designs, giving out a rainbow of colours to the audience.
To adapt your make-up to suit this mood start using bright vibrant colours such as purples, blues, pinks, greens and oranges on your eyes. The catwalk make-up is usually applied to the extreme but if you tone the make-up down slightly, so it’s not quite so bold, it will really brighten up your look.
Save money by applying eyeshadow as an eyeliner, with a fine ended brush, instead of buying lots of different coloured eye pencils. You can mix eyeshadow with a tiny amount of water using your make-up brush and it will create a stronger colour. Really open up your eyes by using some heated eyelash curlers. I find that if you use them after applying your mascara it helps mould the mascara in shape, lifts your lashes and lasts much longer.
Nicely shaped brows are always a good option. To help groom and define your eyebrows try the Youngblood Brow Artiste kits. They come with two shades of brow colour, a tinted wax to keep those stray hairs in place, a dual-ended applicator wand/angled brow brush and a great pair of tweezers.
Foundation this season is all about getting a flawless finish. Make sure you don’t look caked in make-up though. With the warmer weather hopefully on its way, your skin will be warmer and your pores will enlarge slightly. Try not to over apply your foundation. The St.Tropez Rapide Face cream works like a tinted moisturiser, it has anti aging properties and contains natural organic aloe vera. The colour will last a few days so you can just reapply as you need it. To give you that extra coverage use one of the Youngblood mineral foundations. These are made from natural ingredients so will not clog your pores up like some cosmetics do.
Pink cheek colours are popular for the summer. Avoid applying the colour to the apple of your cheeks, instead apply the blusher in a sweeping movement across the cheek bones up to the temples. Help emphasise your cheek bones by adding a bronzing powder just underneath your cheeks, then apply a highlighter on the top of your cheek bones. This will give an illusion of higher cheek bones.
For the lips we are steering away from the deep, dark colours of winter and going for more pinks and reds. The Youngblood Lip Shines are ideal to moisturise your lips, whilst giving them a lovely shine with a tint of colour. Berry tones are also a popular choice to try.
